Hypoallergenic Dogs - The List

We hear the phrases " hypoallergenic dogs" and "non-shedding dogs" used lot. But what make they actually mean? What is a hypoallergenic dog?

First of all, the lexicon definition of hypoallergenic (or hypo-allergenic) is "having a decreased inclination to arouse an allergic reaction".

Note that is makes NOT mean value that something hypoallergenic will NOT cause an allergic reaction.

The scientific fact of the substance is that:

1. No domestic dog is totally hypoallergenic 2. No domestic dog is totally non shedding.

We can honestly state that this is true in our family. Maybe an occasional sneezing when he's in demand of a bath or a trip to the groomers for trimming, but that's all.

Another advantage is that we also don't really happen any domestic dog hairs around the house, which is great. Non sloughing puppies are a popular pick for people with allergies. If you are thinking of getting one, seek and pass some clip alone with the whelp at the breeder's to find what - if any - reaction you have. Allergic symptoms make not always go on immediately - sometimes there can be a couple of days' delay. They can also change from one breed to another - or even from one domestic dog to another within the same breed.
